Has been ranked no. 1 or near the top in estimated lean yield, loineye size and  sire line index (SSLI) y the Canadian Center for Swine Improvement. Rankings  based on offspring performance.  His SLI this fall was 176, which put him in he top .55 percent of Duroc sires in Canada.

• Both of these boars were evaluated in completely separate genetic evaluations against hundreds of other sires. They are  great examples of our breeding program designed to produce  high-performing, high-health, elite Duroc and Yorkshire genetics. Boars, gilts and semen are available from our stud or  cooperating facilities. Don ’t settle for anything less than the best!

A History of Performance...
At Stewart’s Duroc Farm, our genetic emphasis has always been on improving pig performance. Since we started raising Durocs in 1942, it has been our goal to produce high performing boars and gilts that would work in the commercial industry. Sticking with this philosophy for over 60 years has brought great results. Purebred breeders, breeding companies and commercial producers from all over the world have visited our farms and purchased genetics.

STAGES - Performance Documentation

Twenty years ago we submitted our first performance data to STAGES, the National Swine Registry’s performance program. Since that time 288 different herds have submitted Duroc performance data from 3,488 sires. Our herd has consistently ranked among the top in these performance reports and today is no different.

Currently (October 2005) the top ranking boar for Terminal Sire Index in the Duroc breed is “Aztec” a boar we produced and sold to Lean Value Sires. Ranked #2 is “Time” a boar we produced and kept as a herdsire. Ranked #3 is a boar produced from semen from our herdsire that we sold to another breeder.

Producing top ranked sires is nothing new. Here is a list of our sires that have been ranked #1 in the Duroc breed. These boars represent the performance foundation of our current Duroc herd.
